What are the benefits of massage?

Massage isn't just for muscle pain; it has been shown to reduce stress, alleviate chronic pain, boost overall immunity, and increase circulation.

Stress management is one of the most important ways for people to cope with tension and enjoy life. Massage helps to reduce stress by lowering blood pressure, relaxing muscles and promoting the release of the endorphins throughout the body.

Tense muscles cause knots and pain, creating a chain reaction that spreads, making the ability to reduce pain nearly impossible. By helping the muscles relax, your massage therapist releases chronic muscle tension and relaxes the body.

Numerous studies have indicated that massage can increase the activity level of the body’s natural "killer cells," decrease the number of T-cells, and increase the body's level of seratonin, improving the body’s immune functioning overall.

Poor circulation can create a host of problems, from cold hands and feet to fatigue and achiness. Improved circulation brings oxygen-rich blood to tense and tired muscles. Massage creates pressure that moves blood back and forth through the tissue. This squeezing and pulling also flushes lactic acid from the muscles and improves the flow of lymph fluid which carries metabolic waste away from muscles and internal organs. This chain reaction from a massage results in lower blood pressure and improved body function.
